Why we choose Montage Deer Valley

This sophisticated resort redefines the concept of a luxury mountain getaway

  • Strike up some fun at the onsite bowling alley
  • The ski valet helps you arrange all your ski sessions
  • In-room check-in gets you on the slopes faster

Skiing is the main focus at Montage Deer Valley—and it’s superb—but this is a true all-seasons resort. In fact, there’s probably more to do here in the warmer months than in the winter, but rest assured that every season is an outdoor lover’s dream. Just don’t get sucked into spending all your waking hours in the elements when there are four phenomenal restaurants and one of the top spas in the state inside.

What you need to know about the hotel

The family-driven Montage has genuine ski-in/ski-out access and a variety of interesting activities

  • Daly’s Pub & Rec serves gastro-pub fare in a setting that includes billiards, sports on flat-screen TVs and old-school arcade games
  • The decadent, 4,800-square-foot Summit View Penthouse runs the full width of the building, offering both ski slope and valley views
  • Spa Montage, the largest of its kind in Utah, has daily fitness classes and signature spa products from the mountains

Montage Deer Valley is mountain living at its best, with mountain-inspired décor, extensive artwork and architecture that stays true to the area. The 220 rooms and suites are large, sumptuously appointed and include balconies and fireplaces. They also offer private residences for the ultimate home-away-from-home experience. As far as ski lodges go, these rooms are some of the best we’ve seen, so there’s really no poor choice.

Skiing in Deer Valley is top-notch—just ask the Olympians who’ve competed here—and the resort is among the best places in the U.S. to get your ski on (as well as tubing at Powder Park). Do come in off the slopes for the four fabulous restaurants, whose cuisines range from farm-to-table grill to Japanese.

Where is it and what's nearby

Montage Deer Valley is tucked into forested slopes three miles above historic Park City, Utah

  • Ski some of the 100 diverse trails on six mountains, or opt for a private ski tutorial at the ski school
  • The Provo River, recognized as an Important Bird Area, offers sightings of golden and bald eagles, owls, hawks and Canadian geese
  • Golf greats like Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus have designed some of the courses within a half-hour drive of Montage

On the slopes of Utah’s Deer Valley Resort, Montage specializes in spectacular skiing and panoramic views. Spring through fall, skiing takes a backseat to equally impressive mountain biking, hiking, road biking and fly-fishing. All of this happens in and around Park City, an authentic historic silver mine town whose history comes alive in the exhibits and décor of the hotel. Today, the quaint town and its carefully preserved Main Street are home to boutiques, lively bars and nightlife, cafés and theaters—all reachable courtesy of the hotel’s free house car or shuttle.

How to enjoy Utah

Regularly topping lifestyle surveys as ‘the best state to live in’, you’ll never forget a Utah trip. Revel in five national parks famed for their jaw-dropping natural beauty and year-round activities for lovers of all things outdoors

  • Carve up champagne powder in Utah’s Greatest Snow on Earth and ski the 2002 Olympic pistes at Snowbasin, Deer Valley and Park City
  • If you need an excuse to lose weight, book yourself on a slot canyoneering expedition; Blarney and Shimrock Canyons look suitably skinny
  • Wish on a star in Natural Bridges National Monument; the first International Dark Sky Park will offer you a canvas of a billion stars to gaze at

If hiking, mountain-biking and white water rafting all seem a bit too, well, energetic, you can opt for Utah’s slow lane with an indulgent resort spa. For a mountain vista as you relax into your massage, head to one of the resorts at Park City or Snowbird. For a wilderness-view, sink into your yoga poses or meditate in peace, framed by rich red rock outcrops of Moab or the Zion National Park.

Take the All-American Road, Highway 12, for a stunning road trip through some of the state’s most iconic scenery. Get up close to the towering rust and orange hoodoos that punctuate the skyline of the Red Canyon and Bryce Canyon National Parks. Alternatively grab yourself a Harley Davidson and head to Monument Valley; from Easy Rider to Forest Gump and a score of westerns, one of the most filmed areas in the West.
