How to enjoy Boston

Go visiting your neighbors in this city of neighborhoods. There’s Paul Revere’s house in North End and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s house in Old Cambridge. Or you could take tea in Boston Harbor

  • See where The Scarlet Letter and Walden were published; the Old Corner Bookstore – today it is a jewelry store, but the building is still there
  • Lose yourself among the brick sidewalks and gas lamps of Beacon Hill, the former home of Louisa May Alcott, Oliver Wendell Homes and Robert Frost
  • Sample the After Hours program at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum to enjoy art, poetry or the bar; visit during the day to see Whistler, Rembrandt, Sargent, Botticelli and more

Words like ‘birthplace’, ‘America’s first’ and’ America’s oldest’ abound in this city of history and culture. Head to Lexington to stand on the place where the first shot was fired in the War of Independence. Browse the shelves of the country’s first public library. It’s not a museum; it is the Boston Public Library. Or grab a breath of fresh air at Boston Common, America’s oldest park.

And then, there’s Cambridge. Technically it’s another city, but really it is just a hop across the Charles River and is home to some of the world’s most renowned universities (Harvard and MIT) as well as one or two students. It’s also an excellent shopping destination with enough boutiques offering haute couture and off-the-rack to keep the most dedicated follower of fashion happy. Not to mention great funky world cuisine venues.

    When to visit Boston

Fall is stunning time to visit New England and Boston is no exception. For real insight into the Irishness of America’s most Irish city, visit in Spring and catch the St Patrick’s Day Parade.

  • We say

The ‘crown jewel’ of Boston with the sought after address of Arlington and Newbury streets.

  • We say

This iconic building underwent a complete restoration in 2002 in celebration of its 75th anniversary. Everything is fresh and fabulous.

  • A word from the hotel

I would suggest a day of shopping on Newbury Street, which is located adjacent to the hotel and has some of the best shopping in Boston. Afterwards, relax and enjoy our Afternoon Tea in the French Room—a unique experience that should not be missed.
