Why we choose Grand Wailea

Comprehensive luxury in the Waldorf Astoria tradition—set on one of the world’s most beautiful beaches

  • With nine outdoor pools include water slides, a lazy river and Tarzan swing, it’s a virtual water park right on the property--splash!
  • Spa Grande was voted the #1 spa in all of Hawaii
  • Getting “Maui’d”? The hotel has its own wedding chapel

There are lots here. Lots of what, you may ask? Lots of everything. From rooms (almost 800) to restaurants (nine) to activities (practically endless), you’ll have to go home long before you see, do and experience everything this enormous luxury property has up its sleeves.

What you need to know about the hotel

Luxury lovers who crave choices galore will never want to leave

  • Napua Tower is a private hotel within the resort, with upgraded amenities and added services like a dedicated concierge
  • For the ultimate private dining experience, opt for a private cabana with a customized menu and exhilarating views of the Pacific
  • The Wailea Tennis Club is an 11-court complex—including three courts lit for night play—with a pro shop and staff of professionals

The Waldorf Astoria Grand Wailea lives up to its name by doing everything on a grand scale. There are 780 rooms and suites, as well as 70 units in the Ho’olei at Grand Wailea residential area. Then there’s the size of the rooms (not suites, mind you), which average a stunning 640 square feet and boast private lanais.

As for amenities, there are nine restaurants here, one of which was named Best Resort Restaurant in Maui, dozens of onsite shops, a number of pools, golf courses, tennis courts and a beach. It also features a mammoth 50,000-square-foot spa, which offers the usual stuff, as well as unique treatments like the Exclusive Terme Hydrotherapy Circuit, a water therapy program with five aromatic baths.

Where is it and what's nearby

Grand Wailea sprawls across 40 landscaped acres, just steps from the beach

  • The hotel offers art and garden tours that teach you about Grand Wailea’s artworks (including a Picasso) and the landscaped grounds
  • A snorkel and kayak eco-adventure takes you along the picturesque South Maui coast, through sea-scaped lava and underwater gardens
  • The Grand Wailea has the only resort-designated SCUBA training pool in Hawaii, offering lessons for everyone from first-timers through advanced divers

The Waldorf’s Grand Wailea is an oceanfront jewel that puts you right on one of the best beaches on Maui: Wailea Beach, rated one of the top in the world. Here you can snorkel with turtles, ride the waves on a boogie board, kayak along the surf or simply rent a cabana and take it easy on the white sand.

Maui itself is the star of any vacation at the Waldorf Grand Wailea, however. This absolutely stunning island was voted the best island in the world again (for the 17th time) by Conde Nast readers.

How to enjoy Maui

With lush tropical gardens, picture perfect beaches, championship golf courses and stunning natural beauty, Maui offers a truly wonderful holiday escape

  • Head to Iao Valley State Park for a glimpse of the iconic Iao Needle, a 365m high plant-covered rocky outcrop
  • For unique snorkeling and diving, visit the crescent moon-shaped island of Molokini, three miles off the coast of South Maui

Maui’s pristine beaches deservedly enjoy many accolades. Take your pick from white, black and red sand, with locations that are ideal for swimming, tide pools, surfing and paddle boarding. After sunset, dine beachside under the stars with exquisite food, fine wine and the gentle sighing of the ocean to create the perfect evening.

For an aerial adventure and unparalleled sightseeing, charter a helicopter for a tour of the island’s rugged coastline. Alternatively, saddle up and become a paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) for the day where you can tour upland pastures or the wilds of the Haleakala National Park.
