Why we choose Andaz Napa

This downtown hotel has an artistic approach to everything from décor to food

  • Mercantile Social offers locally-inspired craft cocktails, wines and beers. Start tippling upon arrival, with a welcome glass of vino.
  • Nearby Greenhaus Spa supplies in-room massage services

California is usually on the cutting edge of new trends, and the “agri-chic” Andaz Napa is a prime example. It’s reflected in the farm-to-table cuisine (the restaurant is even called Farmers Table), as well as the natural elements that make up the furnishings and appointments.

The hotel prides itself on being the destination of choice for upmarket creative types; if that’s you, you’ll feel right at home.

What you need to know about the hotel

A rustic-meets-chic boutique experience with sophisticated amenities

  • The second floor Terrace is outfitted with two fire pits and cabanas with swings for stylish relaxation
  • The massive Vintner’s Suite has retractable glass walls leading to a private balcony with landscaping, lounge and cafe seating
  • Signature restaurant Andaz Farmers Table focuses on small plate dining, pairing taste with texture

The dynamic Andaz Napa specializes in modern comfort, as exemplified by the décor in its 141 rooms. Decked out with hickory hardwood floors and featuring bathrooms with white marble and rainfall showerheads, you’re surrounded by chic indulgences and the latest technology.

Two of the best reasons to stay at Andaz Napa are its restaurant and bar, both of which emphasize local ingredients and eclectic menus. Andaz Farmers Table has interesting small plates at night, but daytime is equally interesting thanks to diverse, eco-chic breakfasts and a Barista Bar with espresso-based drinks, organic coffees, teas and seasonal juices.

Where is it and what's nearby

Andaz Napa is nestled in the vibrant, revitalized West End neighborhood

  • Skip the winding roads and tour the Valley via balloon ride—the best way to take in the beauty
  • Napa’s 480-plus vineyards are best known for their cabernets and chardonnays, but you’ll discover many different varietals
  • Five blocks from the hotel is the Abajo/Fuller Park Historic District, with California’s second largest number of historic homes

Napa Valley, located about 45 minutes north of San Francisco in picturesque northern California, is one of the world’s top producers of wine, as well as a hot spot for galleries, upscale boutiques and specialty shops. Napa Valley is an interesting blend of highbrow snobbery and California chill, both of which you’ll find in varying degrees. Downtown Napa is in the midst of a renaissance, and Andaz Napa is a good reflection of the fresh, creative energy permeating the neighborhood.

Andaz Napa is the only luxury hotel in downtown Napa to provide easy access to Highway 29 and the Silverado Trail—plus it’s within walking distance of more than 20 tasting rooms. And while Napa and surrounding towns are famous for wine, they also offer some of the most celebrated restaurants in the county, including Thomas Keller’s famed French Laundry—considered by many to be the best eatery in the U.S.

How to enjoy California Wine Country

Dotted with wineries, restaurants, spas and bars, not to mention stunning views of vine-lined hills dotted with the odd oak, or colored with mustard or lavender, there’s plenty to love about California’s wine region

  • Choose between healthier, lighter dishes and hearty cuisine to nourish your soul with the seasonal menu at Solbar. We recommend Sunday Brunch
  • Check out Robert Mondavi’s Summer Concert program. Past performers include everyone from Ella Fitzgerald to Dave Koz, Melissa Etheridge and Chris Isaak
  • For spectacular views, a Tuscan castle and a tasting session with or without a guided tour, head to Castello di Amorosa winery in Napa Valley

According to the American Wine Institute, California makes 90% of all US wine and is the world’s fourth leading wine producer after Italy, Spain and France. There are more than 4,000 wineries in California, but a trip through the state’s wine country offers so much more than these statistics suggest. Start with an indulgent evening at The French Laundry in Yountville, Napa, for example. The Michelin Guide inspectors who gave it three stars described it as “the perfect storm of restaurant greatness”. If you can’t get a reservation (there’s a waiting list) you could try the three star Restaurant at Meadowood, St Helena. Here the inspectors described a chocolate panettone as a “hauntingly complex pleasure on a plate”. Trouble is, there is a waiting list here too.

The good news is that food and wine are the perfect pairing and you’ll find amazing eateries all over the state. For the ultimate, combine the two at Long Meadow Ranch where you can enjoy a (no appointment necessary) wine and olive oil tasting before lunch or dinner at the Farmstead Restaurant (reservation recommended). When it comes to indulgence, it’s not just the food and wine that you can gorge yourself on. Music is the next obvious treat to pair with wine and many estates do just that. For a spot of the classics, savor the Music in the Vineyards festival. A four-week showcase of chamber music, it takes place throughout wine country during August. BottleRock does the same thing, but substitutes rock, pop and folk in place of the classical.
