Why we choose The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead

This Ritz-Carlton classic is a true Southern original and offers a sensational location

  • Its museum-quality art collection includes 18th century European works through modern commissions
  • A spa level suite adds an extra dose of serenity
  • The Boutique’s designer fashions and accessories include signature scented candles

If location is important to you, look no farther than the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead. Buckhead is the undisputed place to be in Atlanta for business, shopping and entertainment.

It’s a chicken-and-egg situation when it comes to the area and the hotel—as in, which came first?—but today everything seems to center around the Ritz: business professionals, well-heeled tourists and elite locals all gravitate to the hotel.

We suggest

The Club Level rooms are the best and worth the extra expense.

What you need to know about the hotel

The lively atmosphere is contagious, and it has phenomenal service—especially for such a large hotel

  • The renowned Sunday Brunch (awarded the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s highest rating) showcases more than 100 selections with a superb dessert display
  • Music lovers take note: The Ritz-Carlton Suite’s music area offers a Bang and Olufsen BeoSound 9000 audio system and grand piano
  • The spa highlights traditions and ingredients dear to the South, like the Sweet Tea Body Buff and Georgia Red Clay Body Wrap

The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead is Southern hospitality and sophistication rolled into one exceptionally located hotel. With design elements like mahogany walls, marble floors and custom crystal chandeliers, it certainly embodies the elegance of the area. The 510 rooms, done in a classic style that seems to have been inspired by Southern gardens, are all lovely, but we recommend the Club Level rooms—a little pricier but well worth it when you consider the extra services and amenities.

The restaurant and lounge serve up some of the best food in the area—from sushi to afternoon tea. Of course, the culinary team is most famous for its lavish Sunday brunch, complete with caviar and a Bloody Mary bar. Among other notable hotel amenities: a fantastic spa that includes a café and a fitness center with a Junior Olympic–size saline indoor lap pool.

Where is it and what's nearby

The Ritz is located in the heart of Buckhead, Atlanta’s most celebrated neighborhood

  • The Atlanta History Center property is an attraction in itself, and its collections span the Civil War, Southern folk arts and more
  • Atlanta Botanical Garden is a 15-acre showplace that includes an Orchid Center and Japanese, Rose and Parterre Gardens
  • The Bennett Street Arts and Antiques District offers furniture showrooms, artist studios, rug and art dealers and boutiques

Enjoying pride of place in Atlanta’s most illustrious neighborhood, the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead is an ideal residence whether you’re interested in the best shopping, dining or entertainment.

From here, you have divine access to Midtown (the High Museum, the Alliance Theatre and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra), the downtown area (three major sports teams) and other top destinations like the Atlanta History Museum, Margaret Mitchell House, Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola and Fox Theater.

How to enjoy Atlanta

From small town charm to big city living to coastal beaches, Georgia is crawling with possibilities. Wander through antebellum mansions or view ultra-modern art, dine on grits or haute French cuisine—whatever your taste, Georgia can satisfy it

  • The exclusive enclave of Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro offers 117 holes of golf designed by luminaries like Jack Nicklaus and Tom Fazio
  • Madison, about an hour outside Atlanta, was spared a razing by General Sherman and today whisks you back in time to the antebellum south
  • Buckhead is a well-heeled area of Atlanta with upscale boutiques, galleries and antiques shops where you can drop a few (hundred) dollars

Georgia’s capital city has come a long way from its Gone With the Wind days. Atlanta is a thriving metropolis jammed with arts and cultural offerings, big league sports and historic sites galore. But never fear; mom-and-pop shops still serve the best biscuits you’ve ever tasted. City slickers may also feel at home in evocative Savannah, whose romantic vibe has been immortalized in books and movies.

But plenty of people skip Georgia’s urban spots and head straight for posh destinations like Reynolds Plantation, a golfer’s paradise or the aptly-named Golden Isles. St. Simons and Sea Islands used to be reserved for the rich and powerful, but these days you’re allowed to frolic alongside the Rockefellers. In fact, we wouldn’t advise a trip to Georgia without a visit to its barrier islands.

    When to visit Atlanta

Georgia can get downright feverish in the summer, so if heat (and mugginess) isn’t your cup of sweet tea, opt for more temperate spring, when the azaleas are in bloom. Spring (April, to be precise) is also when golf lovers flock to Augusta for the Masters Tournament.

  • Brunch fit for a king

Their renowned Sunday Brunch offers more than 100 selections with a superb dessert display and has been awarded the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s highest rating.
