Why we choose One&Only Palmilla

One of the best in Mexico for good old-fashioned fun and thrilling adventure

  • Each room has 24-hour butler service and an ocean-facing patio or balcony
  • Swing away on the 27-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course
  • The luxury yacht offers sunset cruises, snorkeling or dinner under the stars

One&Only Palmilla in Los Cabos is known as a top luxury destination in Mexico for good reason: They’ve gotten the details right. Not only do they go the extra yard in terms of in-room amenities like tequila (woo hoo!) and telescopes for star-gazing and whale watching, but they also incorporate unique facilities throughout the property. Of course they’ve got pools and golf and tennis, but they also have an outdoor kitchen for cooking classes and light-hearted, Iron Chef-like battles between guests

What you need to know about the hotel

One&Only Palmilla captures the true feeling of Mexico’s coastal luxury lifestyle

  • It’s easy to stay healthy here with an impressive spa and myriad wellness classes
  • Live the dream in Villa Cortez with a private theater, infinity pool, gym, outdoor rain shower and live-in butler
  • Forget wine! Take a customized Tequila tasting session

There’s something very traditional about One&Only Palmilla, with its red-tiled roofs, whitewashed walls and idyllic fountains. But it’s also the epitome of modern luxury. The 172 rooms and suites—plus the four-bedroom Villa Cortez—boast 24-hour butler service, spectacular views (and privacy) from individual balconies or patios and a host of high-tech appointments such as flat-screen TVs and Bose surround sound systems.

This little bit of heaven is very family friendly, though they do tip their hats to the grown-ups with perks like an adults-only pool, where you can score foot massages. Speaking of the pools, they all have gorgeous views and fabulous add-ons like poolside mists, sunglasses cleaning, headrests, entertainment like iPods and iPads and even popsicles. If you want to get up and go, the resort can wear you out from dawn to dusk with golf, tennis, basketball, water sports and much, much more.

Where is it and what's nearby

Hollywood royalty favor this oceanfront resort, hidden away at the lush tip of the Baja Peninsula

  • San José del Cabo is a picturesque Mexican town with an 18th century mission and a raft of artisan galleries
  • Water is king: scuba, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming with dolphins, sailing, deep-sea fishing and surfing are on the menu
  • Especially good from December to March, whale watching is spectacular here, where gray whales frequent the Sea of Cortez

One&Only Palmilla brings together the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Cortez and the mountainous desert in an ocean front tropical setting that sprawls over 250 acres. The Baja Peninsula is pure heaven for outdoor lovers, who can participate in everything from scenic desert tours via Hummers or camels to extreme sports like skydiving and bungee jumping. The resort has put together an unbelievable lineup of excursions: aerial tours of the dramatic coastline, horseback riding, picnics, cooking sessions at authentic mountain ranches, zip lining, rappelling, hiking and more. Whatever you want to do, you can do it at One&Only Palmilla.

How to enjoy Cabo

From angling to adventure and sunbathing to spas, the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula provides plenty of opportunities to luxuriate in your personal passion

  • For a view that will stay will you long after you leave, visit the spectacular cliff edge rock formation of El Arco at sunset
  • Wander the cobbled streets of the quaint San Jose del Cabo to find silver artisans, boutiques and charming restaurants
  • Known as the Marlin Capital of the World, there are plenty of opportunities to flex your muscles against various kings of the sea, from swordfish to mahi mahi

Cabo San Lucas, usually just known as Cabo, or as Los Cabos when combined with neighbouring San José Del Cabo is a world class destination of sandy beaches, stunning scenery, wonderful weather and refined hospitality. Located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean, the waters are rich in marine life.

Scuba diving is excellent here, as are the opportunities for whale watching, adrenaline drenched sport fishing and more sedate glass-bottom boat tours. You can usually tell a town by its golf courses. Here you will find championship fairways and courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones II and Tom Weiskopf. Enough said.

    When to visit Cabo

In the winter, whale pods can be seen as they migrate from the cold seas off Alaska and Siberia to bear their calves in the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez.

  • We say

The best five-star luxury for families, couples or singles.

  • What they don’t tell you

The resort promotes its “swimmable beach,” but it’s actually very rocky. Stick to the swimming pools.

  • Awards and accolades

One&Only Palmilla has earned a place in Condé Nast Traveler’s Platinum Circle, having featured in the Gold List for five years in a row.
