Why we choose Park Hyatt Zurich

This sleek hotel has a prime location and service to spare

  • The two-story wine tower holds over 3,000 fine wines
  • In-suite YogaAway program delivers your “om” fix on the road
  • Floor-to-ceiling windows in the rooms deliver gorgeous views

Lots of business travelers stay here (assuming their expense accounts can handle it), but the hotel and the city itself often prompt professionals to stay a few extra days. Park Hyatt’s warm—not sterile—modern design is softened by a kind of urban forest element, while Zurich is equal parts old-school charm and new wave hip.

What you need to know about the hotel

Contemporary luxury fit for international banking pros and discerning leisure travelers

  • Have dinner in the elegant wine cellar, which features a stunning Ingo Maurer chandelier above the Chef’s Table
  • Extra-large bathrooms offer deep soaking baths, rain showers and bath products commissioned from Turin’s parfumeur Laura Tonatto.
  • Treat your friends to cocktails you’ve mastered at a three-hour cocktail class led by Julio Enzler

Even if you choose (or get stuck with) the smallest room, it’ll still be good sized. After all, Park Hyatt Zurich does have the largest standard rooms in the city, at nearly 390 square feet. Still, we recommend accommodations that are a bit grander—like the corner suites where you can really spread out and enjoy all of the built-in luxury. The hotel in general is very contemporary, with the greenery of the city inspiring the design; the bamboo garden in the reception area is a good example.

In exploring this five-star boutique hotel, you’ll find an homage to the city’s artsy roots in the selection of artwork by modern masters. And in the unlikely event that boredom strikes, stave it off with the lineup of restaurants—impressive both in number and caliber.

Where is it and what's nearby

Explore Zurich’s chic lifestyle from a hotel that’s in the middle of the city center

  • Zurich’s rich artistic heritage can be seen in the galleries along the Rämistrasse and on the former grounds of Löwenbrau brewery
  • Altstadt (Old Town) has a dual personality: blissfully boutique-filled by day and an entertainment hot spot by night—both worth checking out
  • Zurich offers prosperous residents and visitors upscale shopping along Bahnhofstrasse boulevard, including Tiffany, Louis Vuitton and legendary Swiss watch manufactureres like Omega, Piaget, IWC Schaffhausen and more.

Zurich is known as an international financial hub, and the Park Hyatt puts you in the center of all that high roller action. The hotel is surrounded by the prestigious institutions of Paradeplatz Square, a location that also makes it easy to patronize the fashionable boutiques on Bahnhofstrasse, swing by Lake Zurich and add sizzle to your night in Altstadt.

Zurich takes many people by surprise, as it may not be top of mind when thinking of cosmopolitan international cities. But plenty of people consider it among the most fashionable cities in Europe. The culinary scene, nightlife and its reputation as an innovation hub have created a buzz that Zurich more than lives up to.

How to enjoy Zurich

Elegant and affluent with a love of fine chocolate and luxury watches, the Zurichians’ preference for refinement and quality can be seen everywhere, along with plenty of opportunity for indulgence

  • Check out the most amazing police department lobby ever. The vaulted ceiling is awash with Giacometti’s painted flowers
  • Bike, hike or catch a train to the peak of Zurich’s nearest mountain. At 2850ft Uetliberg offers panoramic views over the city
  • Enjoy the color and workmanship of Marc Chagall’s stained glass windows at the Fraumünster Church

To capture the essence of Switzerland’s love of the environment, precision engineering and luxury goods, take a trip to Freitag’s flagship store, where all three aspects are on show. Fashioned from recycled materials, their sought-after designer bags are beautifully displayed and sold from a building created out of old shipping containers.

If visiting high-rise metal boxes is not quite your thing, browse the cobbled lanes of the Schipf quarter, where art workshops, chocolate confiseries and bohemian cafes ply their trade. More great shopping in this wealthy banking city can be found in the medieval Alstadt (Old Town) and the downright glamorous Bahnhofstrasse.
