Why we choose Le Richemond

One of the most prestigious addresses in Geneva, Le Richemond overlooks Lake Geneva

  • The only five-star Geneva hotel with balconies offering breathtaking views on the Brunswick Gardens, the Jet d’Eau and snow-capped Mont-Blanc
  • Spacious rooms with luxurious white marble bathrooms
  • Le Spa by Sisley is the sole urbain Sisley spa in Switzerland and the only one with a room dedicated to Thai massage in Geneva
  • Hate unpacking? The hotel offers complimentary packing and unpacking

To use a local reference, Le Richemond is the Patek Philippe of Swiss hotels: glamorous, super posh and exclusive. Celebrities have been a fixture here for generations, drawn by the truly breathtaking views, glamorous Art Deco style and proximity to the absolute best of everything in the city.

What you need to know about the hotel

A legendary hotel that specializes in luxury service and thoroughly modern amenities

  • The Royal Armleder Suite boasts a fireplace, two terraces with 360-degree views on the Brunswick Gardens, the Jet d’Eau,  snow-capped Mont-Blanc, the city and the Jura Mountains and contemporary décor with artworks and antiques
  • We recommend the seasonal menu at Le Jardin, the hotel’s modern restaurant awarded 16/20 in the Gault and Millau guide
  • Leaving by car? The concierge team cleans your windshield and puts bottled water and Swiss chocolate in the car

Le Richemond’s 109 rooms and suites take a simple approach to luxury that’s small on ostentatious décor and big on comforts like textured wall fabrics, marble baths and freestanding rainforest showers. Throughout the hotel you’ll discover a new design concept based around the idea of bringing the outside in, like lake-blue accents and soft green details.

The restaurant offer a simple and modern cuisine, with menus that are inventive and feature local products such as fish fresh from the lake.

Where is it and what's nearby

Le Richemond combines lake and mountain views with the ease of a city setting

  • Take a private cruise on Lake Geneva to medieval villages or visit Carouge, home to many local artisans
  • Only 1% of Swiss wine is exported, so grab the opportunity while you’re here for tastings at local vineyards
  • Switzerland is known for its exceptional snow skiing, and the nearest ski run is just 45 minutes from the hotel

Many people consider Geneva one of the prettiest cities in Europe, and a stay at Le Richemond may convince you to join their ranks. Situated on the north bank of Lake Geneva, you get views of the Lac Leman, Old Town, Brunswick Gardens and the Alps while being central to famous landmarks like the Jet d’Eau fountain, gourmet restaurants, luxury shopping (Rue du Rhône is the highlight) and iconic destinations like the European headquarters of the UN, housed in the second largest building in Europe (Versailles is the first).

Some of our favorite ways to enjoy a stay in this sophisticated international city: exploring the art of watch-making at the Patek Philippe Museum, cruising the lake on a century-old steamer, sampling local chocolates at Rohr and stopping at a vineyard or two to sip wines you can’t get back home.

How to enjoy Geneva

Geneva nestles in the shadow of Western Europe’s highest mountain and on the shores of Western Europe’s biggest lake. Both are stunning and have a habit of seeming to appear from nowhere and delight afresh as you turn a corner, or step out from a world class restaurant or boutique

  • Ski the highest mountain in the Alps. Mont Blanc is just an hour from Geneva and offers adrenaline-fuelled fun, both summer and winter
  • Admire Geneva’s iconic symbol, the 459ft high Jet d’Eau. It’s basically a giant squirt of water, but the locals seem very proud of it
  • Catch the chiming of the hour with Longines clock in the Malbuisson Passage, complete with moving bronze figurines

Switzerland is luxury-shopping heaven. Nowhere is this seen more clearly than in its watches, which combine the Swiss love of quality with exquisite craftsmanship. Explore Geneva’s waterfront jewellers on Quai de Mont Blanc and Rue du Rhône to find your perfect Swiss watch; brands include Hublot, Tissot, Audemars Piguet and many more.

Watchmaking is not the only precision science this city is famed for. Geneva is also the home of CERN, arguably the world’s biggest science experiment. Take part in a guided tour and join scientists in pondering such questions as what is the universe made of and how did it start?

    When to visit Geneva

Enjoy Montreux’s classical music festival in September and Jazz Festival in July. Visit Geneva in mid-December to catch the city’s L’Escalade festivities before stocking up on Holiday shopping and even sneaking in some skiing. Enjoy the The Fetes De Geneve, "Geneva Festival", in August. It is the highlight of the summer, for ten days the party boogies on along the shores of Lake Geneva with carnival rides, concerts, food stalls and variety shows.

  • A word from the hotel

I once assisted with a helicopter pick up for a client from the nearby ski resort of Courchevel as he was afraid to fly on his own – however I think I was more scared than he was!

  • A client once wanted to buy all Sisley products we had: all creams and makeup available in all colors. She left the hotel with 20 full bags.
