Why we choose Fasano Sao Paulo

The Fasano São Paulo combines exquisite interiors with some of the best dining in the city

  • The Lobby Bar is a hip hangout with vintage leather armchairs and art deco chandeliers
  • Fasano’s wine cellar offers bottles amassed during trips through Italy and France
  • The pool, flanked by ofuro baths, looks out over the city rooftops

There are plenty of opulent touches here: white marble bathrooms, linen curtains and Persian Kilim rugs, to name a few. But the hotel isn’t shy about advertising that the foundation for the Fasano hotels is actually the family’s culinary traditions. The São Paulo location offers three restaurants, including Fasano, which is often listed among the best in the country, as well as a music bar with live jazz and Bossa Nova every night. Sit back, relax and enjoy one of the most cherished cultural traditions in the country in lavish style.

What you need to know about the hotel

The style is glamorous 1930s, though the amenities are most definitely 21st century

  • The gorgeous top-floor pool is big on views and is furnished with antique fixtures and Hans Wegner chairs
  • The spa’s five plush treatment rooms house experiences ranging from the usual massages and facials to chromatherapy and the “Cleopatra Bath”
  • Spread out in the 1,300-square-foot two-bedroom suites, featuring large living areas, two walk-in closets and a guest washroom

Hotel Fasano’s 60 accommodations are divided into 50 apartments and 10 suites, including two with multiple bedrooms. Scattered over 20 floors for increased privacy, the spaces all offer incredible views of the Jardins neighborhood. The hotel worked closely with architect Isay Weinfeld to create the mid-century modern vibe with Art Deco touches like Venetian-framed paintings and Murano vases.

The Fasano family’s first love is gourmet cuisine and the Fasano São Paulo will leave you spoilt for choice. Dine and drink among four restaurants and bars, each emphasizing Italian favorites and music. When it’s time to unwind, book an appointment at the spa, where you can choose from facial and body treatments or grab a workout in the fitness center.

Where is it and what's nearby

Between iconic Avenida Paulista and Avenida Faria Lima, the hotel’s Jardins neighborhood is a leafy haven

  • The Museum of Image and Sound holds a 30,000-piece collection of photos, films and records from Brazil’s greatest culture-makers
  • Dine at one of Brazil’s famed steakhouses (churrascaria) for meat you can only find here, accompanied by caipirinha—practically the national drink
  • Pinacoteca do Estado has an exceptional collection of Brazilian art dating from the 19th century and displayed in a beautiful building

Rio gets all the international glory, but São Paulo is an utterly cosmopolitan destination and the largest metropolis in South America. The skyscraper-dotted landscape is your first clue that business—rather than the country’s reputation for pleasure—is the main pursuit here. Instead of hundreds of beaches, São Paulo offers visitors prime dining, shopping and cultural attractions. Everything from visual art to the Portuguese language is celebrated with its own museum, and churches, old missions and memorials tell the story of both old and new São Paulo.

Hotel Fasano is located in the Jardins neighborhood, which offers the city’s best shopping, so plan to spend an afternoon exploring nearby boutiques.

How to enjoy

São Paulo is huge. It is Brazil’s largest city and one of the biggest in the world. Yes it is large, grimy and noisy, but it is also sensuously passionate and home to some of the best art and nightlife on the planet

  • For the most amazing views of the city, not to mention fabulous cuisine, dine at the Terraço Itália restaurant. It’s located on the 41st floor of the Itália Building
  • A shopping must is Daslu in Vila Olímpia. Set in a luxurious mansion it has chandeliers, chaises longues and uniformed doormen
  • Incongruously perhaps, you can find the São Bento Monastery in the heart of the city next to the financial district

Grab yourself a Mapa das Artes and hit the city’s vibrant art scene. Whatever your personal preference, you will not be disappointed. This city takes its art seriously. MASP (Museu de Arte de São Paulo) houses a stunning permanent collection ranging from Picasso to Bosch and Brazilian painters. The Pinacoteca do Estado is a beautiful gallery with a lovely collection of 19th and 20th century Brazilian art.

For nightlife, explore the busy bars in Jardins and Pinheiros and all-night clubs in Vila Olímpia or Itaim. And when we say night, we mean all night. We also mean all tastes from local bars and mouth-watering restaurants, to glamorous clubs and a glittering gay and lesbian scene. The closest thing Brazil gets to royalty is soccer. Head out of town to nearby Santos to visit the home club of the world’s most famous player, Pele.

    When to visit

Time your visit to catch the São Paulo Art Biennial or the annual spectacle that is the Brazilian Grand Prix hosted by local Interlagos race track.

  • We say

Pre-war chic meets contemporary sophistication in the most fashionable district of São Paulo.
