Why we choose Jade Mountain

More sculpture than structure, Jade Mountain has prompted guests to call it the 8th Wonder of the World

  • Skip the airport drive and use the resort’s exclusive helipad
  • Individual infinity pools range from 450-900 square feet
  • Book the beach-front spa or schedule a private, in-room treatment

There are no guestrooms at Jade Mountain—only “sanctuaries.” Odd, perhaps, but very appropriate. For starters, the living areas are finished with more than 20 different species of tropical hardwood, harvested in an environmentally correct way of course. Then there’s the private pool or Jacuzzi in each room. Finally, there’s an intentional lack of technology (though you can access the Internet at reception), allowing it to become a sanctuary in every sense of the word. If you’re looking for the most unique, most luxurious resorts in the world, put Jade Mountain on your list.

What you need to know about the hotel

St. Lucia’s scenic beauty is maximized thanks to each guestroom’s open-walled design

  • The whirlpool tubs have point-massage jets and are equipped with the latest in chroma-therapy, which uses color to affect bio-rhythms
  • All in-room pools have shallow water lounging areas, large swimming areas and are illuminated at night with colors you control
  • Grown onsite are cocoa beans (used in their own estate chocolates), as well as organic ingredients from mangos to vanilla beans

Jade Mountain is a West Indies version of Shangri-La—floating high above the sea with the beach below. Everything about the architecture is unique: individual bridges leading to infinity pool rooms (or sanctuaries); the missing wall in every sanctuary, opening up the amazing views of the Pitons and Caribbean Sea; and the glass tile color scheme in each pool, which is carried into the individual bathrooms. With this attention to architectural detail, it isn’t surprising that the 24 pool sanctuaries and five Jacuzzi suites have a unique layout and each has its own (usually bold) personality.

The resort is among only a handful of AAA 5 Diamond properties in the Caribbean, thanks in part to its fairly extensive onsite facilities: the Jade Mountain Club, with its James Beard Award-winning chef; Kai en Ciel Spa, fitness center with personal training options and Shades of Jade Boutique. Plus, there’s an even longer list of luxurious facilities at sister property Anse Chastanet, where you can join in a vast array of weekly activities.

Where is it and what's nearby

Built on a St. Lucia mountaintop, Jade Mountain is part of a 600-acre estate

  • Its southern location makes major sightseeing attractions—rainforest, botanical gardens, drive-in volcano and sulfur springs—an easy drive
  • Sail away on a day-long or sunset cruise aboard the resort’s yacht, Searenity, or 60-foot catamaran, Lucky T
  • St. Lucia’s pristine coral reefs are a snorkeling and diving dream come true.

Jade Mountain’s location is all about drama. It soars above the tropical estate of Anse Chastanet with incredible views of St. Lucia’s famed Piton Mountains,
a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you would expect (or hope, anyway) from an
island destination, the property includes two soft sand beaches, which are a
five-minute walk or short shuttle ride away. With mountains and sea both part of the estate, virtually any activity is possible—from coastal kayaking to hikes to water sports. You can even bike through the jungle. Mostly, however, you’ll want to relax and take in the breathtaking scenery of one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful settings

How to enjoy St. Lucia

You don’t have to be married to experience the romance of the world’s leading honeymoon destination. It will be love at first sight of the island’s perfect white sand beaches and clear turquoise waters

  • Tour the Sulphur Springs and enjoy the bubbling spectacle of the world’s only drive-in volcano
  • Charter a yacht to explore the island’s secret coves and enjoy the best views of the stunning 2,000 ft twin peaks, Les Pitons
  • Admire the multi-coloured Diamond Falls and benefit from their therapeutic mineral waters in Diamond Falls Mineral Baths Spa

This small Windward Island, it measures just 27 miles by 14, is one the gems of the Caribbean with lush rainforests, pristine beaches and an enticing lapis lazuli sea. Cool, elegant plantation-style architecture sits comfortably among glorious tropical gardens ablaze with the colors and aromas of hibiscus, orchids and bougainvillea.

Opportunities for true relaxation abound. Sip refreshing coconut cocktails from the edge of an infinity pool, shaded by gently swaying palms and soothed by the murmur of the ocean. Swim leisurely over stunning coral reefs as clown fish dart through slow-dancing anemones. Stroll across lush fairways and fine tune your putting on the beautifully manicured greens of the island’s three golf courses.
