Why we choose Anse Chastanet

Anse Chastanet is a romantic seaside resort for travelers who prefer easy living, beach style

  • Take the plunge: Anse Chastanet is a PADI 5-Star Dive Resort
  • Check out the beach-level art gallery, featuring local and international artists
  • The spa offers yoga and stretch classes at the Yoga shelter or beachside

St. Lucia’s Anse Chastanet isn’t for media junkies who can’t live without a 24-hour news scroll. There are no TVs, radios or telephones in the rooms here, an intentional design that forces relaxation upon you if necessary. Rest assured that your cell will still work, though, and guest computers are available. Despite, or maybe because of, this technology ban, the resort has won a boat-load of awards, including multiple honors as a top resort in the Caribbean. A stay also includes access to its sister property, Jade Mountain, which is rumored to have the best sunsets on the islands.

What you need to know about the hotel

This long-time favorite perfectly captures the spirit of St. Lucia

  • The Kai Mer section of the spa sits atop a hill, offering panoramic sea views during treatments like massage, aromatherapy and reflexology
  • Culinary adventures with the executive chef include harvesting excursions to the resort’s organic farm, interactive cooking classes and wine pairings
  • Public spaces and all guestrooms are decorated exclusively with original local art, including colorful wall murals, painted “sky ceilings” and “flower boards”

We suggest

Anse Chastanet offers an intimate 49 rooms, either nestled into the hillside or built within a garden at beach level. Each of the individually designed rooms is octagonal, and some are missing the fourth wall in an effort to better showcase the natural setting. If you prefer full-on privacy, ask for a room with a complete set of walls.

There are three restaurants and two bars at the resort—plus the Jungle Grill and Bar on the second beach of Anse Mamin—with cuisine that spans the globe from the Caribbean to India. Of course, you can do nothing but relax on the two beaches (one accessible via complimentary water taxi), but there’s lots to do if you so choose: yoga, daily escorted walking or hiking tours, jungle biking on 12 miles of private trails, watersports and spa treatments.

Where is it and what's nearby

The resort covers 600 tropical acres in St. Lucia, including two beaches edging 8,000 feet of Caribbean coastline

  • Hop aboard an escorted boat-based snorkel trip to the surrounding coral reefs, or learn something new in a marine biology class
  • Explore eight miles of private biking trails within the Anse Chastanet estate on one of their Cannondale F800 mountain bikes
  • The Caribbean coastline is best experienced via kayak—perhaps a “Paddling to the Pitons” or a “Fishing Villages & Beach Picnic” tour

One of the first things you notice about Anse Chastanet is its views—of St. Lucia’s twin Piton Mountains, most notably. It’s located a mile outside of Soufriere, which puts it near major sightseeing attractions such as Sulphur Springs, St. Lucia’s famous walk-in volcano, the Louis XVI Mineral Baths, a tropical rain forest and, of course, the Twin Pitons.

The resort is a natural wonder in itself, which is why they offer guided walks—a good way to learn something about local fauna and bits of St. Lucia history. Anse Chastanet also schedules plenty of excursions to all of the local attractions, as well as shopping, dolphin and whale watching and zipline adventures.

How to enjoy St. Lucia

You don’t have to be married to experience the romance of the world’s leading honeymoon destination. It will be love at first sight of the island’s perfect white sand beaches and clear turquoise waters

  • Tour the Sulphur Springs and enjoy the bubbling spectacle of the world’s only drive-in volcano
  • Charter a yacht to explore the island’s secret coves and enjoy the best views of the stunning 2,000 ft twin peaks, Les Pitons
  • Admire the multi-coloured Diamond Falls and benefit from their therapeutic mineral waters in Diamond Falls Mineral Baths Spa

This small Windward Island, it measures just 27 miles by 14, is one the gems of the Caribbean with lush rainforests, pristine beaches and an enticing lapis lazuli sea. Cool, elegant plantation-style architecture sits comfortably among glorious tropical gardens ablaze with the colors and aromas of hibiscus, orchids and bougainvillea.

Opportunities for true relaxation abound. Sip refreshing coconut cocktails from the edge of an infinity pool, shaded by gently swaying palms and soothed by the murmur of the ocean. Swim leisurely over stunning coral reefs as clown fish dart through slow-dancing anemones. Stroll across lush fairways and fine tune your putting on the beautifully manicured greens of the island’s three golf courses.
