Why we choose Le Guanahani

St. Barth’s most irresistible private enclave

  • The unbeatable location: a secluded tropical peninsula situated above sweeping beaches and a reef-protected lagoon
  • Excellent Mediterranean cuisine

For a bit of French flair mixed into your tropical getaway, you can’t beat St. Barths. And Le Guanahani delivers a nice dose of European style without verging into “uppity” territory. In fact, the resort is very easy-going, specializing in a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere with lots of activities, a spectacular spa and dining that covers everyone’s favorites, whether that’s haute cuisine or grilled cheese.

What you need to know about the hotel

A unique destination with understated luxury and high-end services

  • La Villa is a 1,615-square-foot suite with two entrances, a large deck and private swimming pool in a secluded garden setting
  • The Diving School, with beginner classes in the pool or lagoon, offers custom experiences like reef, deep water, night and wreck dives
  • The Spa by Clarins, located in the tropical garden, offers a comprehensive list of massages incorporating techniques from all over the world

Le Guanahani is spread out over 18 secluded tropical acres on its own peninsula. Within this captivating landscape, 67 vibrantly hued guest cottages are scattered along garden paths that wind through lush bougainvillea, hibiscus and palms beside the sweeping beaches and reef-protected lagoon. The island’s finest boutique resort offers two pools, a restorative Spa by Clarins, a full suite of water sports, a fitness center, flood-lit tennis courts and engaging children’s programs. One can bask in the sunshine at a choice of two beaches, explore a colorful underwater world on a diving excursion, enjoy exhilarating kite surfing or venture out to explore the enchanting surrounds of St. Barth. At this casually elegant private retreat, freshly prepared, refined cuisine is presented with unobtrusive service in two signature al fresco settings—the sultry gardens of Bartolomeo or poolside at Indigo with stunning views of the reef-protected bay.

Where is it and what's nearby

The oceanfront Le Guanahani is a garden paradise on St. Barths

  • Located in the northeast part of the island on the beautiful blue lagoon of Grand Cul de Sac
  • 10 minutes away from St Jean and 15 minutes away from Gustavia where shops are all located
  • Close by Salines Beach and its attractive restaurants, and not far from the famous Ti St Barts for great nightlife

Saint-Barthélemy is the go-to destination for opulence in the West Indies, presenting visitors with a choice of 27 white sand beaches, a Continental shopping experience and hoppin’ nightlife. The nine-square-mile island may be small, but its French flavor and clear water continues to draw international glitterati for fun in the sun.

Nestled between Marigot Bay and Grand Cul de Sac, Le Guanahani is one of the best resorts among many that cater to the elite, featuring great gardens brimming with bougainvillea, hibiscus and coconut trees. It can be tough to find a reason to leave the property and explore the rest of the island.

How to enjoy St. Barths

With a distinctly French flavour, St Barths offers the kind of chic elegance and exclusivity that attracts supermodels and the superwealthy who seek a spot of downtime in exquisite surroundings

  • Head to the beach at Baie de St Jean for the ultimate place to see and be seen. For surfing, take your board to Toiny and for chilling, Grand cul de Sac is where it’s at

There are two ways to get to Saint Barthélemy. You can sail your yacht into the capital’s charming harbor, or island hop in an appropriately small aircraft (the runway is tiny) from larger neighbour, St Martin. The island’s capital, Gustavia, may be small, but it is lined with designer shops from Louis Vuitton to Longchamp. During the high season, the nightlife kicks off and there are plenty of opportunities to party till dawn. For such a small place, there is also a high concentration of sublimely talented chefs.

Although adored by celebrities for its exclusivity, this tiny French island retains a chic charm of its own making that is not forged by the glamor of its guest list. Chief among its attractions has to be its beaches. All are public and feature baby-powder soft, dazzling white sand with the clear turquoise water that is so much the calling card of Caribbean coastlines. The beaches are quiet; although for the ultimate in exclusivity, sail to Colombier Beach. It is only accessible by boat.
