We suggest

Choose your room carefully, there are a lot of different areas to choose from.

What you need to know about the hotel

This elegant, exclusive Jamaican property has hosted international royals, as well as Hollywood royalty

  • Some of their Imperial and royal suites feature whirlpool tubs and are perfectly located on the oceanfront
  • A half-century of the world’s most influential people have taken up residence, including Joan Crawford, Clark Gable and Prince Charles
  • Jamaica’s first Spinning resort helps you work off last night’s dinner; aerobics, yoga and Pilates classes are also available

For over 60 years, Half Moon has been known as a sophisticated Jamaican escape, hosting everyone from JFK to Queen Elizabeth. So rest assured, you’re in good company. Part of what has undoubtedly drawn so many luminaries is the plush décor, with many furnishings and upholstery pieces designed and manufactured by the resort’s own artisans. Perhaps they wanted to dig into the six restaurants and eight bars or unwind in a spa that’s a whopping 68,000 square feet. We recommend seeing for yourself why people who could stay anywhere have chosen Half Moon.

Where is it and what's nearby

A spectacular oceanfront location provides a new aquatic adventure every day

  • Come nose to nose with dolphins at the onsite Dolphin Lagoon, which offers encounters for every age
  • The Outameni Cultural Experience is an interactive journey that teaches through music, art, dance, film and authentic food
  • Adrenaline junkies can see the island from a different angle with a zipline treetop canopy tour

Spread across 400 acres, Half Moon sits on a two-mile, crescent-shaped beach on Jamaica’s northern coast. Landscaped gardens surround whitewashed Colonial cottages, from which you can look directly onto the Caribbean Sea. In short: It’s a pretty good reproduction of paradise. And since it’s just 15 minutes from the Montego Bay airport, you start having fun almost as soon as the plane lands.

How to enjoy Jamaica

Jamaica is an island of high achievers. Many of the nation’s people and much of what Jamaica produces is recognised to be among the very best in the world. Kick back and relax, your visit is destined to be equally superlative

  • Tour the 260 year old Appleton Estate and enjoy a journey through time and the history of some of the world’s finest rum
  • Jamaica is the birthplace of reggae and Rastafarianism. Learn more about both at Bob Marley’s former home and resting place in Nine Mile
  • For a chance to see Bolt, Blake, Powell and company in action on their home turf, check out JAAA meets at the National Stadium

In addition to falling in love with this vibrant, tropical island, many visitors to Jamaica have found inspiration here. Ian Fleming famously wrote all of his Bond novels at his Jamaican home, Goldeneye (today a luxurious hotel and well worth a visit), Sting penned Every Breath You Take and the English playwright and actor, Noel Coward, was a long time resident. The list of home grown talent is even more impressive and includes Usain Bolt, Bob Marley and Grace Jones among very many others.

It’s not just the people of course. Jamaica has a global reputation for the quality of its Blue Mountain Coffee and its rum. The island knows how to have fun too. Natural attractions such as the seven tiered cascade of YS Falls and the Dunn’s River Falls are not just for looking at, but entice you to climb or play in. One of Jamaica’s greatest assets, however, is its beaches. Mile upon mile of white sand and palm shade. Some beaches are bustling and fun, others are off the beaten track and soothing in their serenity.

  • A word from the hotel

While there are many unique activities from which to choose, two of my personal favorites are a visit to our private Dolphin Lagoon to meet and swim with Rose, Chicki, Secret, Orion & Pepe, our well-trained dolphins, or swim in the Caribbean Sea on horseback.
