Why we choose Cambridge Beaches Resort and Spa

Bermuda’s premier cottage resort is an intimate escape from the everyday

  • Pick from four private beaches and lots of intimate coves
  • The onsite marina rents motorized and non-motorized water sports equipment
  • Food & Wine rated Tamarisk Room among Bermuda’s best restaurants

The adults-only (16 and older) Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa gives you permission to leave the kids at home—and relax without having to put up with other people’s kids, either. It’s the island’s only resort that caters exclusively to adults, and judging by the results, they’re doing something right. The “repeat guest board” near the main dining room tallies how many times people have visited; the list starts with five visits and goes all the way up to 85.

What you need to know about the hotel

This serene, romantic getaway also lets you experience Bermuda’s rich history and culture

  • The exclusive pool suites are state-of-the-art inside and breathtaking outside, with a patio-based plunge pool offering sea and sunset views
  • A Love Concierge is on call to arrange romantic experiences like private candlelight beach dinners and couples’ spa treatments
  • The Ocean Spa features Experience Suites such as a Steam Room, Cooling Crystal Mist Room, Rainfall Shower and Sauna

All of the 94 accommodations are traditional pink Bermuda-style cottages. They’re individually decorated in an elegant yet classic style, and each has a great view ranging from garden to sea. When you’re ready to emerge from your cottage, you’ll find endless possibilities: croquet, tennis, indoor and outdoor pools, six restaurants and bars, a delightful fitness center, an impressive lineup of yoga classes and, of course, the four private beaches.

The spa deserves its own paragraph or three. Not only does this 30,000-square-foot mammoth offer every facial and body treatment under the sun, but it’s got some holistic wellness aspects you wouldn’t necessarily expect—like dream therapy and past-life regression healing. We recommend booking the Ocean Pagoda, which is situated in the serene Seaview Gardens.

Where is it and what's nearby

The resort sits on a 30-acre peninsula on the pink sands of Bermuda

  • Check out the adjacent Nature Reserve, an important wetland habitat for waterfowl such as moorhens and migratory birds
  • Bermuda’s waters are brimming with reefs (and the shipwrecks caused by those reefs), creating unique diving experiences
  • Take advantage of Bermuda’s great fishing by casting from the resort’s beaches or catching a ride with the reef fishing captain

Surrounded almost entirely by water—the Atlantic Ocean on one side and picturesque Mangrove Bay on the other—Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa sits on its own peninsula on Bermuda’s western coast. This ideal location provides four beaches, a nature reserve, private gardens and spectacular water views from every point on the property. The seclusion comes with a price, however, in the form of its distance to and from the airport. But once you’re here, the resort really gives you no reason to move again until it’s time to go home.

How to enjoy Bermuda

British refinement meets Caribbean joie de vivre in the island chain of Bermuda. Its combination of turquoise seas, historic sites and natural wonders create lifelong fans who return year after year to this soothing escape

  • Inside the Botanical Gardens—a 35-acre gem in itself—is the new Bermuda Masterworks Collection, an impressive array of Bermuda-inspired work
  • Want to know what Bermuda is really like? Authentic Bermuda can be found on St. David’s Island, an out-of-the-way, “untouristy” spot
  • Shopping is a highlight here, with visitors snapping up high-end British crystal, tablewear and antiques at better-than-stateside prices

It’s possible the whole Bermuda Triangle thing was created because sailors didn’t want to leave once they’d experienced the tranquil beauty of Bermuda. This relatively small island chain is more “ahh” than “woo-hoo,” so party animals beware. But for vacationers who want to soak up the sun with an umbrella drink—minus the crime and exhaustingly persistent peddlers—it’s an ideal getaway.

Bermuda is a beach lover’s dream, with gorgeous water for swimming, snorkeling and fishing (though not always in the same places). You’ll know you’re in Bermuda when you step onto the beach and find pink sand instead of white, an oddity that helps explain the popularity of its many beaches. We’re partial to Shelly Bay beach on the north shore—not exactly unknown but not overcrowded either.

    When to visit Bermuda

Though most people think of Bermuda as a tropical island, its climate is only semitropical—meaning the winters can be surprisingly cool. Not grab-your-parka cold, but you probably won’t be heading to the beach until spring arrives.

  • You need to know

Children five and older are allowed from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve—not ideal if you want a child-free holiday.

  • We say

A longtime favorite with generations of families (as soon as the kids hit 16).
